2020.09.30 02:12 Dog-Lick-GinkⒿ Rebrand: Depth (23rd to 29th Sep, 2020) A detailed track choice rationale...
Theme accompanied description: To attain depth (the quality of being intense or extreme), it takes commitment.
Genres this week: Organic electronic, deep disco house, minimal tech house, organic electronic, jazz fusion, alternative metal, Australian alternative rock, melodic metalcore, new wave pop, alt-rock/pop punk, british jazz pop and indie soul.
The Ⓙ Rebrand playlist is organised into genres (within the Spotify app). If you can't see these labels in your app: go to Settings>DisplayOptions>Show unavailable songs ☑ )
Song choice rationale and track descriptions: Dissociative - Traf: [Genre: organic electronic] This track has been sitting in the Ⓙ Rebrand Archive 2020 since the start of the month now and I think it deserves to be shared. This song ticks some boxes for me in terms of both an uplifting and exciting sound as well as having elements groovy synth to it. As I have listened to a lot of synthwave and organic electronic this track vibes well on both fronts while also pulling in some chill guitar riffs into the mix. It’s just an easy going starter to the playlist this week, but it sets the mood for some faster paced songs to follow. Phill Callings - Aquarius Heaven: [Genres: deep disco house, german house] So, this week I have decided to feature another track by Brian Brewster aka: “Aquarius Heaven” and I’m still “frothing” this vibe. It’s experimental house music with roots in reggae and dancehall featuring a hip-hop singer with colours of the Caribbean in his voice. IMO the other track on this EP (Work That Body) is nowhere near as good. This track is the one I would have featured last week and I’m still loving it; so after mentioning there might be more AH featured, this is the one. I have also set this track as my “current obsession” on GinkoMusic LastFM as well as placed it in Ⓙ Ginko’s Obsessions. What They Say - Maya Jane Coles: [Genres: uk house, deep disco house, minimal tech house, electra, deep house, house, electronica, microhouse] This is straight up one of the most groovy and catchy tracks in the line-up. Hard not to be moved by this one (unless of course you can’t hear or you have a hole in your heart). Now this is the most popular track on Spotify by the artist: Maya Jane Coles, but I have to say it was a hard pick between this and Simple Things which is also on the same album: What They Say EP but I figured, it’s the opening track and it’s the main track on the album. If you dig this sound, I’d encourage you to suss out the rest of the album. There were a lot of tracks I had to choose from in the Maya Jane Coles catalogue, but I’ll be tempted to keep them in the rotations throughout the week. Delta - Solace Remix - Katl June, Solanca: [Genres: progressive house, organic house] This is a Solanca remix of the original track by Katl June. It's another one of those tracks that isn’t really that “exciting” but I think it has its place in providing a good ambient soundscape that promotes productivity and commitment to the task(s) you’re doing. Not much of a feature but a nice chill house track with uplifting vibes that I think still has merit. It actually works well as a bit of a palate cleanser in the playlist. Jorge - Satori Remix - Acid Pauli, Satori: [Genres: organic electronic, ethnotronica, organic house, organic electronic, organic house, microhouse, deep euro house, minimal techno, tech house] Another track that has a phenomenal introduction worth my kudos. This is the soundtrack to the artwork this week, a futuristic world that still functions well, but has some downfalls. It’s some pretty stylish house music if you ask me, but each to their own. Back to the Basics - AW:[Genre: tech-house] So, back in April this year I featured a similar track in Rebrand “Back to Basics” by KVPV, in Ⓙ Rebrand 29/04/20 but I think I like this version better. Not only am I enjoying AW’s very limited and underground discography, but this track has more of the sounds I like in it; drumming, hard tech-house style and some quality mastering. My House - Joe Jackson: [Genres: Jazz fusion, dance rock, art rock, mellow gold, new wave pop, new romantic, pub rock, soft rock] I hate to have to put a Joe Jackson track in Rebrand, but I’ve been digging this one lately and I think he makes some good music. I know I’m mostly going to be alone here, so no offence if this track gets skipped, but I am including quite a lot more nostalgic tracks this week, so it might not be enjoyed by everyone. I love the lyrics "one of these days I'm gonna smash somebody's car and smash the coppers face, as they take me away, but I gotta go home now" - It really captures the feelings a lot of people have when they keep emotions bottled up until one day they just snap... You - Breaking Benjamin: [Genres: alternative metal, post-grunge, nu metal] This song expresses the mistakes the singer has made while living a life of drug abuse and in doing so, took his lover for granted. This song expresses the sorrow and contrition of the singer for setting such a terrible example and making these mistakes. I really enjoy singing this track and I chose it mostly for that reason. It is a track I have always loved. All I Know - Karnivool: [Genres: Australian alternative rock, djent, alternative metal, progressive metal] I have been a fan of Karnivool for many years now and this song is somewhat dear to my heart. I’ve been getting a lot out of this song lately and it’s got some really nice melodies to sing along to. I just love the bridge in this track too (it starts at half way). It's one of the grooviest things you'll hear, featuring off-beat drumming and ambient guitar… gives me goosebumps. This track has been on high rotation the past week. It's a very nice song folks. Louder Voice - Fit For A King: [Genres: melodic Christian metalcore, deathcore, post-screamo] I wanted to feature one track off the album The Path by Fit For A King which was released in full this past week. This song has an acceptable intro, which makes the transition into the genre easier, but the song is pretty full-on both lyrically and musically. It covers the topic of experiencing cognitive dissonance around letting love back into your life while struggling with multiple voices or outlooks on the matter. Somebody’s Watching Me - Single Version - Rockwell: [Genres: new wave pop, dance rock, new romantic, new wave, synthpop, soft rock, disco, europop, mellow gold, motown] There are a few nostalgic tunes in this week’s playlist. This one reminds me of the days when I was first getting into dance music, listening to Ministry of Sound. I can’t imagine there would be too many people who would skip this old banger of a synth track. There’s a reason it was popular and as much as we love hearing new songs, there’s always a place for nostalgia and music is so powerful in delivering it. For anyone interested, the BeatFreakz version of this track is the one featured on Ministry of Sound's: Sessions Three, released in 2006, but I currently like the Rockwell Single version better; BeatFreaks trashed the mastering in their version, but if I want to tap into that true nostalgia, the BeatFreaks version hits the spot. crushcrushcrush - Paramore: [Genres: alt-rock, candy pop, pixie, pop punk, pop emo] Yeah, another early 2000’s tune. I got right into this album again the past week and it was pulling some nostalgic strings for me. This was probably one of my favourite Paramore songs back in the day and I have enjoyed bringing it back this week. Julie Mangos - Tom Misch, Yussef Dayes: [Genres: British jazz pop, indie soul] I really like this quirky little track off the new album: What Kinda Music by Tom Misch (multi-instrumentalist) and Yussef Dayes (drummeproducer). This particular track resonated with me because I like the dynamic chosen to convey a little story. It’s personal, but it’s also really nice to just get a snippet of two friends' lives. The music changes with the perceived emotion of the participants in the conversation recorded. Very exciting shit homies. I didn’t leave this track to last because it’s my least favourite of the set; I positioned it here because it sets me up with such a good mood when I listen to it, I hoped it would end the playlist in a really nice way for everyone. If you enjoy it, I encourage you to bang on the rest of the album. Also featured in Ⓙ Album of the week until next Wednesday. It’s a great, ambient album; suggested to me by a close friend and I rate this experimental style highly. The drumming in this album is quite phenomenal really, groovy shit. It’s a good, chill listen... Check it out.
2020.09.01 09:16 saradibambuLebanese guy thinks Pal/Syr communities in Lebanon are part of the problem. What do you think?
I don't even know why I'm writing here about this but I need someone else's point of view. Long story short: last year I started dating a Lebanese guy (who's born during the civil war), he's very easygoing person and I really like him. As for everyone living in Lebanon, his life turned out to be very challenging due to lack of work and money (he's a musician, so no more job), uncertainty after revolution, volatile situation, and then corona, and then the blast... you all know what's going on. Ok, the point is that he's turning into a different person: day by day more angry, more lost, apathetic, even irrational in thinking. What makes me suffer the most is that he started being resentful about Syrians and Palestinians living in Lebanon, he says that the first ones caused the war and the second ones want Lebaneses dead (and other things like that), and that both of Pal/Syr receive much more help/aid from the international community (which ok, it's true but not the point), even though they do nothing for change their situation (???), while the Lebs are left alone. In conclusion, it seems like they, other people in trouble, these are his problem and not wrong politcs etc. Pls. Help me understand. My heart is aching seeing him suffering but still I really don't think that being angry at other communities would help in any way, and I still believe Lebanon's problem is not Pal or Syr, and that everyone is suffering too bad but hating each others would never help to improve life. It would only cause other problems. Every time I try to explain that, though, he just ends saying: "you don't understand. You don't know about the war. You don't know how much Lebanon has suffered (and still does) from welcoming these people." What do you think? Do Lebanese ppl, somehow, all think the same?
2020.08.13 04:43 trifletrufflesValen Hotomanie-missing from Wolf Point, Montana since November 15, 1995-"Federal authorities consider the case a homicide but said that no charges can be filed until a body is found."
Two men threw 23 year old Valen Hotomanie off the Missouri River Bridge south of Wolf Point, Montana on November 15, 1995. A month later, the two men confessed and were held on aggravated assault charges but later released. A 1996 news article noted that "federal authorities consider the case a homicide but said that no charges can be filed until a body is found." The same news article described how authorities, a year after Valen's death, "still make frequent searches along the Missouri River." The fifth of eight children, Valen's family described him as a "happy-go-lucky guy" who had a great sense of humor. After his death, Rose Bull Chief, Valen's mother, purchased a radio scanner to keep track of news regarding her son. She bought the scanner after "several women approached her one morning to console her and shake her hand" as someone had "picked up a rumor that a body believed to be Valen's had been found"; it turned out to be a drifting log. Rose has since worried that she contributed to Valen's death because she always advised him to "steer clear of fights" saying "you're a bigger man if you turn around and walk away, even if they call you names." She said it was not in Valen's nature to fight; he was "always laughing." However, he did have a "fondness for alcohol" with Rose musing "that's why he is gone." She recalled the times where she would find him and bring him home to sleep it off while admonishing him "one of these days, something will happen." Another news article published in 1996 recounted that FBI special agent Jim Wixson would not comment "on published reports that suspects have confessed to the killing but have not been arrested because the body has not been recovered." At the time of his death, Valen had an infant son. Valen's body has never been recovered. If you have any information, please contact the Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office at 406-653-6230. Discussion: The stance taken by authorities with regards to non-prosecution due to a lack of a body struck me as there are numerous cases of murder convictions being upheld despite a body never being found. In 2012, the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit created a database of all such cases with oldest one dating to 1995. The database was created in conjunction with a symposium they hosted in April 2012 to discuss best practices; this symposium resulted in a 2014 FBI manual titled No Body Homicides. The database now contains over 660 no-body homicide prosecutions along with the prosecutors’ contact information. The database is offered as a resource for others to locate prosecutors to discuss best practices for no-body homicide cases and investigative steps to cover before proceeding. Similarly, while the lack of a body may make it harder to prosecute a crime, the lack of finding one did not appear to be a deterrent in the many conviction cases I found in various states throughout the years. As an example of a recent case out of Montana, in March 2020, Gregory Scott Green was convicted of killing his girlfriend, Laura Johnson, in southern Montana even though investigators have not found her remains. Deputy Yellowstone County Attorney Ann-Marie McKittrick "urged jurors not to reward [Gregory] for getting rid of [Laura's] body" highlighting that "the reason there’s no body is because he disposed of it...he went on a three-day cleanup campaign.” https://leb.fbi.gov/articles/featured-articles/no-body-homicide-cases-a-practical-approach https://billingsgazette.com/news/state-and-regional/crime-and-courts/jury-finds-nevada-man-guilty-of-killing-missing-girlfriend-in-montana/article_a7b77f5f-99ea-5f9a-b3ea-abee3b8d7acf.html https://www.aetv.com/real-crime/murder-convictions-without-a-body Links: http://charleyproject.org/case/valen-roy-hotomanie Great Falls Tribune, Great Falls, Montana, September 8, 1996. Billings Gazette, Billings, Montana, September 29, 1996 https://nij.ojp.gov/topics/articles/violence-against-american-indian-and-alaska-native-women-and-men A 2016 study funded by the National Institute of Justice showed that Native American men are 1.3 times more likely to experience violence than non-Hispanic, white men. Similarly, the Urban Indian Health Institute notes that nearly 6,000 indigenous women were reported missing in 2016. However, only 116 were logged in the National Missing Persons database. On August 4, 2020 multiple explosions occurred in Beirut Port that destroyed half the city, killed more than 160 people, with an additional large number of people missing, injured hundreds of thousands of people and made 300,000 people homeless. 80000 children displaced. The explosion was so big that it was heard and felt in Cyprus and Syria. There were reports of damages to properties from the explosions all over Lebanon, not just in Beirut. More information about this can be found in the end of this post.

2020.07.29 14:00 lowsubmarinoxcom 2 wotc mod list for old and weak granddaddy rigs
The goal was to create a mod list that wouldnt cost me any performance as my rig is ancient. It was a mid range rig like 3 or 4 years ago so you can imagine it's not very strong. I wanted as many new enemies as possible and a better late-mid and late game. There are fantastic mods like 'increase pod size by force level' which allow you to tailor the difficulty to your needs. I play with a bigger squad of 5 and can upgrade to 7 soldiers but pods grow by 1 at force level 1, 5 and 18. And have a 50 % chance to have an additional unit at force level 20. So you get pods of 6 and 7 at force level 20. Im currently trying to beat this with grim horizon and failed like 30 times. Got pretty far into mag and a few times into plasma weapons but then died. Its quite hard and for those of you that beat standard l/i several times and want a harder campaign outside of long war of the chosen. I tested this mod list thorouhgly and I believe you wont be disappointed. You wont get much fps or performance drops as there are (sadly) no voice packs in there and not much solider customization. Thats the downside. Voice packs are awesome and I would like to have more customization but sadly, most of those 2 mod types tend to be huge and they slow down your game. I had loading times of 5+ mins at some point. If your rig is up to date you can get voice packs and customization mods on top of the ones in the list. Those mods are also pretty stable. I dont get many crashes and freezes. If you want the exact same settings I use: Legend ironman grim horizon reaper ally start with 5 soldiers instead of 4 pods get +1 unit at force levels 1,5,18 and 50% chance at 20 Its really easy to set up pod size with the mod 'increase pod size by force level'. I found this mod only recently but it is one of the best mods you will find for this game. It works wonders to create actually devestating late and end game cause you wont only get bigger pods, you will get bigger pods of alredy quite lethal units with those mods. The mutons or vipers or sectopods or robots you face will be significantly stronger. Exalted custodians are tough even when you do have all the toys. Reaching mid game, when you just transitioned into mag/gauss (but no armor and ammo yet) is much, much more brutal than vanilla midgame. This is actaully harder than early game, believe it or not. If you reach midgame, then that is the time I used to die in those 20 - 30 attempts. You get evil berserkers with armor in huge pods at that time, you get archons that can warp around the battlefield, you get sectoids that wanne abduct you, you get really, really nasty chryssalids.....shit, there are so many awesome and deadly new enemies in there, you will have a blast, but it is really challenging. Here is the list. Tons of new enemies and challenges and a lot of utility mods but no performance drops with these mods. I carefully selected all the enemy mods. They were created by the imo best xcom 2 modders out there so theyre all quality mods. Stuff like bio division 2.0 or the hive, just to name a few, are truely awesome. My personal favorits are aba, abc, bio division, hive, custodian pack, very angry sectopod, leb's late game enemies. wotc alien armor customization by iridar aba better missions a better camapign wotc automated loadout manager wotc multiple sitreps 2.0 guaranteed & categories wotc sectoid commander wotc advent purifier revamp wotc custodian pack wotc purge priests bitterfrost protocol post process status effects wotc increase pod size by force level more mission sitreps wotc the hive more wotc exalted custodian cosmetics wotc the hive infinite tlp weaponry wotc upgraded rulers wotc commander avatar restoraton fth capnbubs addon - wotc wotc cinematic rapid fire (and other abilities) chosen dark events fix wotc+tlp tlp attitude voie fix wotc cost-based ability colors wotc accurate covering fire wotc faster reload animations wotc creativexenos archons wotc pathfinder items wotc metion cosmetics maps by vozati wotc edition tlp unlocker wotc melee weapon breakthrough wotc free reload anytime more traits wotc militia overhaul plus dlc breakthroughs support advent duelist wotc world war L wotc advent reinforcements (includes ABA support) wotc muton enemy pack avatar buffs wotc better grappling wotc carry unit fix wotc faceoff ammo fix insider knowledge fix wotc hours instead of days advent cryo priest standalone wotc advent sniper wotc tempest combat wotc supreme focus wotc a better ghost wotc skillful skirmishing wotc critical skirmishing wotc+tlp plasma fan fire fix wotc zip mode combat protocol camera fix stop wasting my time wotc wotc advent medic flame viper wotc advent warlock wotc diverse alien pods wotc LEB's lategame enemies wotc cloned alien rulers wotc advent drone wotc alien elite pack wotc advent psi ops wotc loot pinatas light wotc children of the king wotc sectoid abductor wotc eu berserker wotc bio division 2.0 wotc berserker revamped wotc even more robots wotc berserker omega wotc less overwatch lock ups! wotc cut content ammo rewards decks refresher wotc civilians revamped advent general revamp wotc pathfinders wotc armored viper wotc the very angry sectopod mod wotc mercenary plasma hero weapons wotc mercenary plasma weapons wotc expanded callsigns and nicknames mec troopers defense matrix sabotage fix additional dark actions restored chosen traits additional mission types redux more cities wotc more resistance ops wotc revival protocol fixes custom soldiers evac zone fix timer tweaks for wotc more nations and names wotc wotc fair lost targeting instant avenger menues wotc unrestricted customization wotc wotc new target icons wotc show health values missing packages fix + resource view locked skills wotc wotc detailed solider lists add part names wotc mod config menu wotc robojumper's squad select wotc new promotion screen by default wotc gotcha again full character customization from start capnbubs accessoires wotc evac all wotc chryssalid mutations a better chosen a better militia a better advent war of the chosen still stop wasting my time x2wotccommunityhighlander
2020.07.04 15:58 MICsessionDesperate to talk to my ex I don’t care about until I’m suicidal
I’ve had dysthymia since I was about 8-9 years old so I know she’s not at all the reason I’m depressed. Having it for so long I’ve noticed I have some natural tendencies to push people away when I’m having a major episode (2 or 3 times a year roughly). I’ve been with a few girls but only dated her. I liked her cause she was cute, arty, blonde, blue eyes and politically centralised. There’s more I could say but this was a “my type” situation. The reality is if i didn’t relapse at the wrong time I would of tried to marry her. We broke up, I stopped talking to my parents, stopped going to uni, cut off all my friends and committed to just working out to stay alive. I never told her I had depression so when I had relapsed she didn’t know why I was acting the way I was, being all toxic and manipulative (how I get people to go away). We broke up. After that began my magical adventure on a 9 month long journey with a major depressive episode :D. Whenever something bad would happen or right before I’d attempt, I’d Try to talk to her. If she didn’t respond I’d wait til the next day to try and kill myself (alcohol and pills). If she gave me the cold hand (which she always did) that was the green light for me. I got bit by a crackhead, king hit, jumped by a Sudanese gang (race is important because all gangs in my area are race related I.e. the lebs, asians etc.) in my area and a few other minor things. Whenever something bad would happen she’d just come shooting into my mind like a scary maze jump scare and fuck me up. It always made me so hopeful each and every time. The worst part was I was setting myself up for pain because I knew the outcome every time but I did it anyway. Now I’m considerably worse. I’m not even “high-functioning” anymore. People know theirs something wrong with me when they meet me. I don’t try to hide it, I don’t try to be nice and I don’t act like I have the energy to do things. I went from military to I’d rather just lay on my bed and do acid. We broke up over a year ago, she’s got a new boyfriend and I got chlamydia. I don’t know why but I really want to tell her everything. Tell her that I wasn’t just trying to make her feel bad and that I followed through every time. My one regret that trumps all in my life is not telling her about half way through our relationship that I’m depressed, and that I’m gonna push her away if I’m not careful. I know it’s gonna make me feel better if I tell her but at what cost? It’s gonna make her feel so much worse. I’d honestly rather just bottle it up or kill myself than hurt her again. She’s happy, she’s moved on, she’s making new friends, new boyfriends, new job, new life and I’m moving forward in my life too, but I still feel fucking stuck right here. God i hope I don’t meet her fucking boyfriend.
2020.05.28 15:33 thedocksideWe're moving too fast. I want you to see what the mom's of the world are sharing about the vaccine- it's being labeled a 'conspiracy theory' to dismiss a digital certificate out of hand
Misinformation is taking a dangerous hold on Fox News viewers. According to a new poll, half of all Americans who name Fox News as their primary news source believe the debunked conspiracy theory claiming Bill Gates is looking to use a coronavirus vaccine to inject a microchip into people and track the world’s population. The Yahoo News/YouGov poll, released on Friday, found that 44 percent of Republicans also buy into the unfounded claim, while just 19 percent of Democrats believe the lie about the Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist. According to Yahoo’s report on the poll, neither Fox News nor President Trump has promoted the false Gates conspiracy. But sowing seeds of distrust of mainstream media and the spread of misinformation is a hallmark of the network and the current president. Last month, Fox primetime host Laura Ingraham shared a tweet where she expressed agreement with a user who wrote about the debunked conspiracy theory. “Digitally tracking Americans’ every move has been a dream of the globalists for years. This health crisis is the perfect vehicle for them to push this,” Ingraham wrote.
Jay Inslee Says Trump Should Be 'Removed From Office' for His Disastrous COVID-19 Response
Pearl Jam, Ben Gibbard Lead 'All In WA' Virtual COVID-19 Relief Concert Lineup
3,844 people are talking about thisThe poll also found that just 15 percent of MSNBC viewers believe the untrue conspiracy theory which, according to the fact-checking publication Snopes, began with the anti-vaccine movement. They chose to target Gates specifically because of his decade-long advocacy for vaccines. According to an April report in the New York Times that looked into the right-wing targeting of Gates, media analysis company Zignal Labs found that “misinformation about Gates is now the most widespread of all coronavirus falsehoods” that the company has tracked. This debunked conspiracy theory could be especially menacing if it deters any portion of the population from getting vaccinated, if and when one becomes available, which would then make it much tougher to rid the world of the virus. In another poll released on Friday by Reuters/Ipsos showed increasing mistrust in the president due to his consistent habit of sharing misinformation. Thirty-six percent of those surveyed said they would be less willing to take a vaccine if it were endorsed by the president. The picture these polls paint is both sad and obviously dangerous for all of us, especially with the current pandemic. Unfortunately, our country’s lack of trustworthy leadership means that more and more people are susceptible to bad and untrue advice that is rampant on random Reddit forums, Facebook posts and, yes, even TikTok — where conspiracy theories are paired with viral dances. 2020.05.17 06:12 n3x7lifeSo I created a flowchart to streamline my online dating life
I've been in the online dating scene now since December last year and overall I'd say I've had just slightly more bad experiences than good ones. I'm not really one to beat myself up or get disheartened easily despite the annoying nature of online dating (i.e girls using old photos from 2016 when they looked much different) and the current state of the playing field. Recently, I've been thinking about how I can create more closer connections and ultimately have a higher rate of success with the girls I match with. So I woke up yesterday morning with the idea of creating a flowchart I can use to streamline the process of online dating to create deeper connections with my matches, and ultimately get to the dating part (whether virtual or in-person) as quickly/efficiently as possible. Here it is for all who would like to see it: The Online Dating Flowchart - Pandemic Edition I created this based off my experiences with various matches over the past 1-2 months and thought about all the times where I had wasted my time, or simply lost interest in who I was chatting to. Since this is based off my experiences, if you do follow it just substitute what you know works for you based on your personality and experiences. I have 5 new matches that I have just begun chatting to, so I'm going to be trialing this flowchart basically from now and will be refining it over the coming weeks as things play out based on what works/doesn't work. I would love to get as much feedback/thoughts on this as possible. Lastly, I do just want to add that this is not meant to be a pickup artist kind of thing...I am not claiming to be such a person, nor do I condone that kind of activity. Just a guy trying to make (dating) life and finding the right one a little easier on all of us.

2020.04.30 15:02 throwythrowy101How to meet Lebanese women as a dual national who hasn't been to Lebanon in years?
I'm sure this is going to get a lot of people's panties in a twist, but since this is a throwaway account might as well ask what a lot of us that live abroad might have wondered. I'm Lebanese Canadian, born and raised in Lebanon. It's time for me to settle down and start a family, obviously I want my future wife to be Lebanese so that I can preserve as much of my Lebanese heritage as I can and pass it along to my kids. Now here comes my question, all of my female friends from the undergrad I did in Lebanon as well as my high school are now married or dating. How do I go about meeting decent women that are not just after my citizenship? I say that because by the looks of it all I'll have available to me is tender, and that app is a cesspool of opportunistic women. I haven't been to Lebanon in 7 years just to make things clear, so my circle of friends there is almost non-existent now. How do I go about this to avoid being used? And before someone suggests join a club or whatever, since I work abroad I can only visit Lebanon for 2 weeks tops as part of my annual leave. So time isn't really in my favor, hence can't engage in a lot of meaningful activities when I land in Leb.
edit: Unfortunately Season 1-16 are no longer available for free. I will keep the blank formatting available in case other seasons become accessible. Hi guys, I was complaining yesterday about how hard it is to browse episodes on the website without having to click around. I decided to start an episode guide and would love it if anyone wants to help. Since I was listening to an episode from Season 17 when the frustration hit I figured I would start there. [S00E00](link) - Date description SEASON 17 S17E01 - Jan 13, 2017 - We kick off a new year of podcasts with a look odd false cognates, AI interlingua and the future of language. We then feature miraculous Russian mind reading OBEs, automatic writing in Australia and the growing Goat Yoga wave sweeping the world! S17E02 - Jan 20, 2017 Award winning investigative journalist Scott Carney returns to discuss his new book ‘What Doesn’t Kill Us’ and his training in the Wim Hof method. Carney examines Hof’s remarkable ability to control his body temperature in extreme cold and how his unique training has forced modern science to rethink our conscious control of our physiology. S17E03 - Jan 27, 2017 Artist Sean Bartock joins us to discuss his memoirs of alien abductions, native spirits, and high strangeness from his book 'Flashbacks'. Bartock believes he had experienced multiple abductions since his childhood, but with the memories remaining mostly hidden, it would take a life change in his early 40s and a series of strange encounters to unlock the true nature of his experiences. S17E04 - Feb 3, 2017 This week UFO researcher Paul Stonehill brings us his latest research into Russian USOs, strange cases from secret soviet files and the mysterious Matua island. We then feature new research on children who remember past lives and curious cases of xenoglossy from around the world. S17E05 - Feb 10, 2017 This week we discover one of history's strangest cases of communication through time with the mystery of the 1985 Dodleston messages. In 1984, an Economics teacher living in the small rural village of Dodleston found he had the opportunity to communicate with someone from the past, when he was thrust into a strange link that tied him across centuries with a past inhabitant of his home via an early model personal computer and it’s word processing software EDWORD. Both accused the other of trickery, poltergeist activity, witchcraft and devilry, but eventually, a bond between the two was formed. Cross-century communications are never easy, however, especially when the future gets involved. S17E06 - Feb 17, 2017 Award winning Australian author Kate Grenville joins us in the studio this week to discuss her new book The Case Against Fragrance and the potential dangers of artificial scent. Prompted by her own adverse reaction to the artificial fragrances around us, Grenville’s research reveals the power of the fragrance industry and the greater impact of chemicals in our environment. S17E07 - Feb 24, 2017 Bikini clad spectres and tree hopping humanoids sets the tone of weirdness for this episode as we eventually wind up deciphering occult symbology in our nation’s capital. We then peel back the layers of the world’s “Holy Madmen” and find a dangerous line walked between saintliness and depravity. S17E08 - Mar 3, 2017 German author Nick Ohler joins us this week to discuss his ground breaking bestseller ‘Blitzed: Drugs in Nazi Germany’. Ohler’s research details the pervasive use of methamphetamines by the entire Third Reich and how Hitler’s private physician changed the course of the war with his injected cocktails of stimulants. We then reveal psychotronic mind control devices and the last ditch attempts to save the crumbling Soviet Union with mass broadcast hypnosis. S17E09 - Mar 10, 2017 After our team of analysts takes on the latest Wiki leaks 'Vault 7' release we turn to new time-slip experiences involving future cities and New Orleans bordellos. We then cover perhaps the most chilling of all MU topics... the dreaded 'Haunted Honky Tonk Piano' and in our Plus+ extension we feature the bizarre Tujunga Canyon encounters and how Bigfoot lost his grapes S17E10 - Mar 18, 2017 After an eventful trip to the Theosophical library we return with stories of "Oriental Wisdom" and tall tales from one Alexander Cannon that ultimately lead us to more Nazi WWII conspiracy and intrigue. In our Plus+ extension we then investigate spectral encounters with animal spirits, ghost doggos, and a saucy scandal featuring a Russian underwear model and a Racoon. S17E11 - Mar 24, 2017 Japanese "Forest Bathing" and getting high on hinoki feature this week as we look at the 'The Nature Fix' and the disease fighting, health enhancing benefits of our natural environments. We then examine 19th century cases of strange abductions from Japan that bizarrely mirror David Paulides' Missing 411 research and Aaron unwraps a banking conspiracy involving global elites and the sinking of the Titanic. S17E12 - Mar 31, 2017 This week we peel back the occult layers to investigate the Merovingian bloodline, Rennes-le-Château, and Ouija board sessions with antediluvian God-Kings of old. We then share the true horror of history’s worst plagues and the Tantra of Tachikawa-ryu S17E13 - Apr 7, 2017 This week we are joined by author and investigative journalist Leslie Kean to discuss her new book Surviving Death. Kean, well known for her New York Times best seller ‘UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record’, reveals stunning and varied evidence suggesting that consciousness survives death and also shares her direct experience of inexplicable phenomena – that had life-changing results. S17E14 - Apr 14, 2017 Reports of people disappearing in forests and national parks across the world continue with David Paulides’ latest: Missing 411 – Hunters. We review the strangest cases and again try to make sense of the mystery. Our Plus+ extension then features the new book from Cody Cassidy and Paul Doherty ‘And Then You’re Dead’, answering important questions like “What would happen if I stuck my hand in the large hadron collider?” S17E15 - Apr 21, 2017 This week we take a detour into the dark world of terror sponsored insider-trading, financial warfare, and Wall St.’s AI “Manhattan Project”. Along the way we discover more on the fractal nature of reality and dig up some doubloons, before our kitchen is invaded by a clever squatch. S17E16 - Apr 28, 2017 Missing 411 suspects get lined up for this episode as we look at the patterns of strange activity that bind them together. The Australian Yowie returns in a very vocal way along with insane tales of Orb-nappings from the Blue Mountains. We then return to the so called "cluster location" or "windows area" of the Great Lakes Triangle and investigate the unsolved cases of missing aircraft, vanishing ships, and strange underwater objects. S17E17 - May 5, 2017 This week we look at the latest collection of Whistleblower testimony from Steven Greer and unpack the complicated web of Special Access Programs and Black Ops money manipulation. We then tell the tale of a man kidnapped in the Amazon jungle by a tribe of Shaman who train him to become a nature communing Witch Doctor. S17E18 - May 12, 2017 UFO attacks and saucer doctors feature this week with more strange cases featuring physiological evidence of contact. 2020.01.05 03:19 s_yhBroken up with on NYE 2020 - but he’s impulsive soooo (+ HUGE Trust issues)
Baaaaasically, Really shitty way to start the year am I right? Besides the point. Context: I’m S, 20 (German/Indonesian) living and studying in Berlin. My Boyfriend (ex-bf?) is Luis, 25 (German/Chilean). We’ve been dating for 6 months, known each other for almost 2 years. He’s had two past relationships where girls have cheated on him, which shouldn’t be valid because u don’t bring past baggage but I thought I’d throw it in there. He also has an ex who’s been messaging him that she misses him, which he dismisses. I’ve moved around all my life as a kid and I’ve accumulated a lot of friends (that I follow on insta!!!! Important fact) because I’ve been at small international schools where schools weren’t big and u kind of just of chilled with everyone. Hence, a lot of people that I follow, with even female/male ratio. Situation: It all started when I was back with my family for the Christmas holidays, he stayed at home alone while his mom was in Sweden (she would’ve been the only one he’d spend Christmas which, he had a fight with his fam in Sweden and holds a grudge until they apologize, so no bueno). I met up with old friends who came to visit their fam, including my 2 best friends. He wanted to call everyday during the week I was gone. I went out twice that week once with both friends and once with one of them. We live in a dead city so bars/clubs aren’t that lively and we just kind of wanted to chill and catch up. Did end up going to a club super spontaneous, since it was a 5 min walk. I get home around 4 and I text him whom I was with and that I’m safe at home lying in bed. Next day he’s super pissy that I didn’t tell him before I went out that he could have the security of knowing where and with whom I was with. I went out, and again I went to a club until 3, forgot to tell him again and he was pissed again. I’m just not used to “reporting to someone”, I get that he wants to know but what difference would it make before/after? I get home after that week, we spend the night together and the next morning (28.12) my best friend Zarah (scheduled) arrives in Berlin at 13:00. She spent 3 days with me. We plan to have lunch with Luis so they can get to know each other, on the 30.12 (Monday) so I text him and asks if Brunch at 11 works. He replies and says no because he has to meet ppl for Uni at that time. I tell him that he won’t be able to meet Zarah later because the both of us were going to go meet an old classmate from 2013 (not failing to mention he’s happily been in a relationship for 7 years). This sets him off and he starts asking “oh so I can’t come to meet Zarah, Andi and u?”. That night I’m super pissed because he’s super irrational because he changes our plans to meeting on Tuesday instead of Monday evening after the 3-way-dinner. IMPORTANT PART: I wake up to Zarah telling me someone’s been calling me, I look to see that Luis has called me 15 times. “He’s fucking crazy for calling me at 9”, so I turn off my phone and fall back asleep. At around 11 Zarah wakes me up again (I’m a heavy sleeper), “yo S someone just rang the doorbell”. I turn on my phone and I read my messages with Luis, and he said he’s outside, I cal him to make sure it’s him and first of all tell him how FUCKING CRAZY he is. I got down to my apartment block entrance and there he is. He basically said he’s been up all night hadn’t slept for 10h at that point, going crazy and that I broke his heart because (wait for it)... HE WENT THROUGH THE PEOPLE I FOLLOW ONTO THE PUBLIC PROFILES OF ANY GUYS AND CHECKED TO SEE IF I HAD LIKED THEIR PICTURES. I was so shocked annnnd HUGE invasion of privacy... tf? I proceed to tell him that I don’t wanna hear any of it, and go back into my building, where he then quickly says “well if that’s how it is, I’m so sorry to have to do this but you broke my heart and I can’t live like this, I have to break up”. I obviously run after him calling him an a**hole and insane, btw we’re literally doing this on the street. He turns around and says fine let’s talk about it. Things that he’s bothered by/ “his arguments”:
he went through the guy profiles I follow and saw that I liked a lot of pictures of guys, “even” a shirtless pic of a guy which breaks his hearts because I know how insecure he is (his words) —> his accusations made me so unsure I actually went to the settings on insta to look through the pictures that I’ve liked and the only pic I could find was a decade transformation pic of the torso of a guy I went to the gym with when I was 14. Haven’t seen him in years.
that I don’t tell him when I go to the club before I’m there because it’s two different worlds for him and builds his trust in me
The 31: He writes a long ass text message early in the morning at 4, explaining his sh!t again. Saying that I’ve deeply upset and disappointed him and that he doesn’t know how to go on. - “S?” -“So we’re not spending NYE together?” -“aight, I thought you’d get it that u f*cked up, guess not, you’re acting super disrespectful....” -“I’ll contact u in a few days, bye” I answer: - “I don’t think I’ve f*cked everything up, sorry that we think different, we do need time to think apart, let’s talk in person. have a nice NYE ❤️” He writes back super disgusting telling me yeah good you understand we think differently maybe put yourself in my shoes and think about how I feel. He always wants the last word. I tell him in don’t want to argue at this point and that we’ll talk in a few days. He writes a few more messages but finally agrees. On NYE - the night: 1:12 “Happy New Year S” At this point I’ve been drinking and puffing hella, took MDMA aswell so I was super emotional. I just burst out crying at a home party my friend Zoe brought me to. He calls at 1:40 and I cry even harder so Zoe answers for me telling him that I can’t because I’m drunk, crying and basically a complete mess. 1:53 “S, what a shame you couldn’t come to the phone. I get it. All good. It’s over, I get it....” “I loved you, live well” (live well = leb wohl, basically a final goodbye) Zoe calls again because I see this and I’m sobbing. She tells him “wtf I literally told u not to do this, I called u a few mins ago telling u she’s drunk and crying already” I get home, I’m dead and I sleep until 16:00 (4pm) I wake up on the 1st to a message he sent at 10:54 “I find it super disgusting of u that you couldn’t even wish me a happy new year and that u let Zoe go to the phone instead, you were drunk at a home party and I didn’t even know where u were. We don’t match, u went over my boundaries, take care of yourself, hope u can be happier in the new year, I’m sorry it’s just this message but meeting in person and talking about this wouldn’t have made a difference. All the best” 3 mins after he sent that message he tried calling again. ARE U SERIOUS. He then proceeds to block me on all social media and all accounts. Thursday 2nd: “S I’m so sorry I blocked you... that wasn’t right.. I know you probably hate me by now.. I don’t want to pretend like u don’t exist or as if I had to block u, I’m sorry about that... it’s not fair to take away your chance to react, all the best” He knows how much this hurt me, because his ex of 2 years who managed to write him monthly, constantly harassed him but he never blocked her when I suggested because he’d rather leave it alone and not act petty..............., NOW: I’ve written back a lengthy message now on the 5th at 1:30am. I’ve told him my opinions and how hurt and mad, disgusting, disappointed I am. That I’m super confused by his explosion. I do know that he didn’t want to break up with me because he is super impulsive, but he’s said the words and u can’t take that sh!t back easily. I basically gave him an ultimatum, we can meet and talk because I don’t want to text around like a teen. Or we don’t meet and that’s that. MY QUESTION TO YOU: How would I even go on from this? These are caused by deep emotional scars. Trust issues, which is something people go to therapy for, do I tell him this and say this is the only way? Couples therapy maybe? A trial period, where if he f*cks up I’ll break up with him for good? Things just snowballed and ended so drastically, we were doing so good especially before I left for Christmas. I’m not satisfied and I can’t even properly grieve this relationship because I honestly don’t know where we stand. I am not willing to give up trivial things such a liking pics. He says if it’s so trivial why not just not like them? That not the point. If I give up things he’ll think it’s acceptable to demand other things. People who know us have told me that he love me so much, maybe too much and that his jealously is unhinged. He treats me so well (when he’s not threatened by literally anything male), we really do face our demons together and confide in each other. This is genuinely love, I know this, but am I wasting my time? I’m young, and there are so many people out there. But I know in my heart this relationship has not run it’s course. PLEASE HELP.

How many dates are in there
Hi, does anybody know how many dates are within Allprices.json? I transformed the prices for Alpha (LEA), Beta (LEB) and Unlimited (2ED) to Excel with Power Query and there are only 37 dates with prices. Many LEA, LEB, 2ED cards do not have prices at all and there seems to be no price differentiation between those edtions. But I might have messed the process up as Power Query only looks for date-prices columns within the first 1,000 rows, hence my questions. Thanks.

By Arthur Penrhyn Stanley, D. D. LECTURE XLIX. (part iii.) THE ASMONEAN DYNASTY. At last came a sudden crash. It was after the over- throw of the sanctuary of Gerizim and the city of Sa- maria that, at the close of his career, John Hyrcanus entertained at a splendid banquet the nobles and schol- ars of his court. With a characteristic combination of the present glories and the past sufferings of his dy- nasty, the tables were laden with the dainties of regal luxury, and the roots and herbs, such as those on which his ancestors had lived in the mountains. On this sol- emn day, Hyrcanus, lake Samuel of old, asked for an opinion on his administration and his conduct. One guest took up the challenge. In him the growing jealousy of the fanatical party found a voice. It was Eleazar the Pharisee. For no moral delinquency, for no violence in war or peace was the splendid Pontiff arraigned. It was the same relig- ious scruple which allied "the Pious" with Alcimus against Judas Maccabæus. It was the well-known per- versity of theological animosity, which, under the cover of such scruples, allied itself with personal enmity, and, raking up the ashes of forgotten or invented scandals, insisted on questioning the validity of the Priestly de- scent of Hyrcanus, on the allegation of an exploded calumny that his mother—the high-spirited wife of Simon—had once been a captive in the Syrian army, and thus shared the bed of Antiochus Epiphanes. The fiery spirit, the tender recollection of John were stirred up by this reflection on her mother's honor. At that moment another rose from the table. It was Jonathan the Sadducee. Now was come the time to reclaim the Prince from leaning to those whom the Priestly caste regarded as their rivals. In Eleazar he denounced the whole party, who, though with certain reserves, stood by their comrade. From that time John Hyrcanus broke away from the school which he had hitherto courted. From that time the feud between the two parties was alternately fostered and shunned by his descendants. One dreadful interlude between these contests in- troduces to us for a moment the third party, of which the real significance is reserved for the next gener- ation. Aristobulus, the son of Hyrcanus, whose family affections were entirely absorbed in his brother Antigo- nus, had been brought back from his campaign in Itu- ræa by an illness, which confined him to the Palace which his father had built in the Temple precincts. Antigonus had gone in full military pomp, in splendid armor, and with his troops around him, to offer prayers in the Temple for his brother's recovery, choosing, as was the custom for all solemn occasions, the great festival of the Tabernacles. His ene- mies poisoned the mind of the King against him. He was invited to come and show his new suit of armor to the King, and, as he passed along the covered corridor from the Temple to the fortress, he was waylaid in a dark corner of the gallery and assas- sinated. The sudden shock of remorse brought on a violent fit of sickness in the unfortunate Aristobulus. The basin containing the blood which he had vomited was spilt on the pavement where his brother had fallen. The cry of horror which rang through the Palace gave a new shock to the King, who expired with his broth- er's name on his lips. Amidst these tragic scenes, it was remembered that a singular being, marked prob- ably by his white dress, was standing in the Temple as Antigonus passed to the fatal gallery. "Look," he said, to his companions, "I am a false prophet; for I "predicted, and my words have never yet failed, that "Antigonus would die this very day at Strato's Tower, "and here he is on the evening of this day still alive." He did not know that the dark corner where Antigo- nus was to fall was called by the same name as the sea- side fortress; and in a moment his prediction was ful- filled. This unerring prophet was Judas the Essene, first of that mysterious sect known to us by name, and one of the few who is ever discerned remaining amongst the haunts of men. But that solitary glimpse gives a foretaste of the effect to be produced by an- other Prophet who should appear in like manner, sur- rounded by disciples in the Temple court, also with dark forebodings, though on a grander scale, which would be verified by events in a still more startling catastrophe. This, however, was but a momentary flash from the secluded world in which the Esssenes lived. In the suc- ceeding reigns it is the contending factions of Sadducee and Pharisee that fill up the whole horizon. The hos- tility sown between the Pharisee Hyrcanus continued through the reign of Alexander Jan- næus. On one occasion they were not ashamed to re- vive the old calumny against his grandmother, and at the Feast of Tabernacles the worshippers in the Tem- ple, inspired by them, pelted the Royal Priest with cit- rons from the boughs which they carried on that day, because the slight variation in his mode of performing the libation reminded them that he neglected the Pharisaic usage. There long remained a remembrance of the insult in a hoarding of wood which he built round the altar to exclude the repetition of such out- rages. But from this moment it seems as if, in the mind of the Sadducess Prince, the passion of a tiger were enkindled by the mingled fury of revenge and of partisanship. On that occasion six thousand perished in a general massacre. On another, when the Phari- sees, with the inherent vice of fanatics, sacrificing their patriotism to their partisanship, sided with the Syrians against their King, he stormed the fortress where they had taken refuge, and then, at a banquet given to his harem on the walls of Jerusalem, ordered eight hun- dred of the leaders of the faction to be executed. It was the first distinct appearance of the Cross on the hills of Palestine. It is not without significance that the ruling passion which led, whether to the eight hun- dred crucifixions under the High Priesthood of Alexan- der Jannæus, or the single crucifixion under the High Priesthood of Caiaphas, was religious party-spirit. The day on which the remnant of the party escaped from these horrors to the slopes of Leb- anon was observed, after their subsequent triumph, as a festival, and, with the usual Rabbinical exaggeration, the sea was at the hour of the execution said to have overwhelmed one third of the habitable globe. The secret motives of the spirit of modern party are re- flected in all their shapes in the closing scene of Alex- ander's life. He admitted on his death-bed that he had mistaken his policy in alienating from him the Phari- saic influences, and advised his wife to conciliate them, in a speech which is a masterpiece of cynicism, and is the more remarkable as being recounted by a Pharisee. A most significant touch was added by the Rabbinical tradition, describing the hangers-on of a successful party as more dangerous than the partisans them- selves: "Fear not he Pharisees, and fear not those "who are not Pharisees—the varnished Pharisees— "whose acts are the acts of Zimri, and who claim the "reward of Phinehas." Not less characteristic of such warfare is the sudden turn by which the King whom in life they had reviled as a usurper and a schismatic re- ceived from them the most sumptuous of funeral hon- ors, and that the very Priest whose copy of the Law, though written in letters of gold they had forbidden to be used, came to be regarded as the second founder of their school. Alexandra's adoption of this policy was rendered more easy by the circumstance that her brother was Simeon the son of Shetach. Under his au- spices Pharisaism acquired an ascendency which it never lost. Already in the reign of her fierce husband he had contrived to keep his place at court between the King and Queen, to bandy retorts with the King, to squeeze money from him for the needy Nazarites. After Alexander's death it was he who recalled his predecessors Joshua, the son of Perachiah, and Judah, the son of Tobai, who was recalled to Jerusalem from Alexandria, whither he had fled. "Jerusalem the Great to Alex- "andria the Little. My husband, my beloved one, "stays with you, whilst I remain desolate." The severe code of the Sadducean "Justice" was abolished except when it suited the Pharisees to be severe, "for the discouragement of the Sadducees." The chiefs of that party were expelled from the Council. Like the less fanatical in all ages, the bond of cohesion be- tween them was more relaxed than in the hands of their more determined and dogmatic opponents, and they were perforce compelled to bow to the public opinion, which sided with the Pharisaic or popular party. The days of the 14th of Thammuz and the 28th of Tebet were in consequence celebrated as festi- vals. The libation of water in the Feast of Tab- ernacles, which Alexander Jannæus had neglected, though in itself wholly insignificant and without a shadow of warrant from the Law, was raised to the first magnitude, with illuminations, processions, and dances. "He," it was said, "who has never seen this "rejoicing knows not what rejoicing is." The whole congregation descended with the Priest to the Spring of Siloam—the water was brought back in a golden pitcher—with shouts of triumph, cymbals, and trum- pets, which resounded louder and louder as the Priest stood on the altar. "Lift up thy hand," they said, as though the irreverent Pontiff was still before them, and the water was then solemnly poured to the west, and a cup of wine to the east, the song still continuing, "Draw water with joy from the wells of salvation." It is a striking example of a noble meaning infused into the celebration of a miserable party-triumph when, "on the last great day of the Feast" of Tabernacles, a hundred years later, there stood in the Temple courts One whom the Pharisees hated with a hatred as deadly as that with which they pursued the memory of Alexander Jannæus, and cried "with a loud voice," —piercing, it may be, through the clatter of chant and music,—"If any man have thirst, let him come "unto me and drink." The description of these internecine feuds, to which the earlier history of the Jewish Church furnishes no exact parallel,—not even in the angry factions of the time of Jeremiah,—shows how nearly we have ap- proached to the modern elements which, as a great historian of our own day has well pointed out, are found in certain stages of every ancient nation. They present the first appearance of that singular phenomenon of religious party, which, continuing down to the latest days of the Jewish commonwealth, reappears under other forms both in the early and in the later ages of the Christian Church—that is to say, divisions ostensibly on religious subjects, but carried on with the same motives and passions as those which animate divisions in the State. The true likenesses of the scenes we have just been considering are not, where Josephus looks for them, in the schools of Greek philosophy, but in the tumult of Grecian politics. The seditions and revolutions of Corcyca, with the profound remarks of Thucydides, contain the picture of all such religious discords, from the Pharisees and Sadducees downwards. The word by which in the later Greek of this epoch they are described, hæresis, is the equivalent of the earlier word stasis—neither having any relation to the modern meaning of "heresy," bot expressed by the English word "fac- "tion." The names of "Pharisee" and "Sadducee," and perhaps "Essene," had, indeed, as we have seen, a moral and theological significance, but this meaning was often disavowed by the parties themselves and was constantly drifting into other directions. The apella- tions of "the Isolated" and "the Just," and perhaps "the Holy" or "the Contemplative," passed through the natural process to which all party names are liable, first, an exclusive or exaggerated claim to some pecul- iar virtue, or also a taunt from some opposing quarter; next, adopted or given, heedlessly or deliberately, by some class or school—then poisoned by personal riv- alry, and turned into mere flags of discord and weap- ons of offence. Such in later times has been the fate of the names of "Christian," "Catholic," "Puritan," "Orthodox," "Evangelical," "Apostolical," "Latitu- "dinarian," "Rationalist," "Methodist," "Ritualist," "Reformed," "Moderate," "Free." Whatever the words once meant, they in later times have often come to be mere badges by which contending masses are dis- tinguished from each other. In these, therefore, as in all parties, the inward and outward, the formal and the real, divisions never ex- actly corresponded. There were Pharisaic opinions which should have belonged to those who were not "Separatists," and Sadducaic usages which we should have expected to find amonst the Pharisees. The doctrine of Immortality, which the Pharisees believed to have been derived, yet deply colored, from those Gentile philosophies and religions which they professed to abhor. In the long and tedious list of ritual differ- ences which parted the two sections, there are many minute particularities on which the Pharisees took the laxer, the Sadducees the stricter side. Yet, furher, though it might have seemed as if the whole nation were absorbed by these apparently ex- haustive divisions, it is clear that there were higher spirits, who, though, perhaps, nominally belonging to one or other side, rose above the miserable littleness of each. No loftier instruction is preserved from these times than that of two teachers who ust at least be re- garded as the precursors of the Sadducees. One is Antigonus of Socho, whose doubt, if it were a doubt, of future retribution, is identical with that expressed in the vision of the noblest and holiest of Christian kings, to whom on the same shores of Palestine a stately form revealed herself as Religion, with a brazier in one hand to dry up the fountains of Paradise, and a pitcher in the other to quench the fires of Hell, in order that men might love God for Himself alone. Another was Jesus the son of Sirach, whose solemn and emphatic reiterations of the power of the human will and the grandeur of human duty helped to fill the void left by his total silence of a hope beyond the grave. Of the Pharisees we know that a hundred years later there was, as we shall see, a Hillel, a Gamaliel, and a Saul, who were to be the chosen instruments in pre- paring or proclaiming the widest emancipation from ceremonial rites that the world had yet seen; whilst the doctrine of Immortality which it is the glory of the Pharisaic schools to have appropriated and consoli- dated, was, like an expiring torch, to be snatched from their hands, and kindled with a new light for all suc- ceeding generations. Of the seven classes into which the Pharisees were divided, whilst six were character- ized by themselves with epithets of biting scorn, one was acknowledged to be animated by the pure love of God. Even in these first days of the fierce triumph of Pharisaism the Jewish Church at large owed much to the influence of Simeon the son of Shetach, who, during the reign of his sister Alexandra, ruled supreme in the Court and cloisters of Jerusalem. There were, indeed, stories handed down of him and his colleague which showed that the Pharisees could exercise as much severity in behalf of the Written Law as they were fond of alleging against the Sadducees. Eighty witches were executed at Ascalon under Sim- eon's auspices, and he persisted, from a legal scruple, in the executuon of his own son, though knowing that he was falsely accused. Nor can we avoid the thought that the advantages which he gave to the legal posi- tion of women were suggested by the influence of his strong-minded Pharisaic sister, Queen Alexandra. But there are traces of a better and more enduring spirit in some of his words and works. That was an acute saying of his colleague, the son of Tobai: "Judge, "make not thyself an advocate; whilst the parties are "before thee, regard them both as guilty; when they "are gone, after the judgment, regard them both as "having reason." That was a yet wiser saying of Simeon: "Question well the witnesses; but be careful "not by thy questions to teach them how to lie." But his main glory was that he was the inaugurator of a complete system of education throughout the country. Under his influence, for the first time, schools were established in every large provincal town, and all boys from sixteen years and upwards were compelled to attend them. No less than eleven different names for schools now came into vogue. "Get to thyself a "teacher," said Joshua, the son of Perachiah, "and "thou gettest to thyself a companion." "Our principal "care," such from this time was the boast of Josephus, "is to educate our children." "The world," such be- came the Talmudical maxim, "is preserved by the "breath of the children of the schools." With nobler tendencies thus recognized on either side we need not wonder, though we may stumble, at the startling fact that the Jewish Church and nation, even in its last extremities was able to contain these three divergent schools with- out disruption. So strong was the common bond of country and of faith that the Sadducee, who could find in the Ancient Law no ground for hope of a future ex- istence, and who resolutely refused to accept the con- venient fiction of an oral tradition, could worship— although varying on innumerable points, every one of which was a watchword of contention—with the Phar- isee, to whom the Oral Law was greater than the writ- ten, whose belief in immortality was bound up with the heroic struggles of the Maccabees, and who was in a state of chronic antagonism to the hierarchical and aristocratical class of which the Sadducee was the guar- dian and representative; whilst even the Essenes, who withdrew from the strife of Jerusalem to their oasis by the Dead Sea, who took part in none of the ceremonial ordinances, unless it was that of ambition, were yet not counted as outcasts, but are described even by Pharisaic historians as amongst the purest and holiest of men; and when their seers wandered for a moment into the haunts of men they were welcomed as proph- ets even by the fierce populace and politic leaders of the capital. Such a latitude in the National Church of the Chosen People, startling as it seems, must have accustomed the first propagators of Christianity to a comprehension which to all their successors has seemed almost impracticable. When Paul felt that the Corin- thian Church could embrace even those who received and those who doubted the Resurrection of the Dead, he knew that it was no larger admission than had been made by the Jewish Church when it included both Pharisees and Sadducees; and when he entreat- ed the Roman Church to acknowledge as brothers both those who received and those who rejected the Jewish ordinances, it was in principle the same catholicity which had induced both Pharisee and Sadducee to recognize the idealizing worship of the Essene. And as particular individuals of each party were better than their party, as the Jewish Church itself was wider than the three parties, singly or collectively, so there were those who, from their commanding char- acter and position, overlooked, and enable us to over- look, calmly the whole troubled sea of faction and in- trigue. Such on the whole was the Asmonean dynasty, beginning with Mattathias, in his patriotic disregard of the superstitious veneration of his own adherents for the Sabbath, continuing throughout the great career of Judas Maccabæus, through the truly national policy of Simon and of his son John, through the keen if cynical insight of Alexander Jannæus. Such was the good Onias, perhaps an Essene, "that "righteous man beloved of God." He was renowned for the efficacy of his prayers. To the teeming fertility which had marked the reign of the Pharisaic Alex- andra, there had succeeded an alarming drought. Onias, at the entreaty of his countrymen (so runs the tradition), stood within the magic circle which he had traced, and implored "the Lord of the World" to send his gracious rain. "Thy children have asked me to "pray, for I am as a son of Thy house before Thee. I "swear by Thy great name that I will not move hence "till Thou hast had pity upon them." A few drops fell; "I ask for more than this," he said, "for a rain "which shall fill wells, cisterns, and caverns." It fell in torrents. "Not this," continued he; "I ask for a "rain which shall show Thy goodness and Thy bless- "ing." It fell in regular descent until the people had to mount to the terraces of the Temple. "Now," they said, "pray that the rain may cease." "Go," he said, "and see whether the 'stone of the wanderers' is "covered." At this Simeon, the son of Shetach, the head of the Pharisees, contemptuously rebuked him and said: "Thou deservest excommunication. But "what can I do? Thou played before God like a "spoiled child before his father who does all that it "wishes." This was the innocent, infantile spell which Onias cast over the imagination of his people, as his memory remained in Talmudic legends. But a more genuine glory attaches to his name as it ap- pears in the sober history. In the fratricidal struggle which broke out between the two sons of Alex- andra (it may be supposed, immediately after this drought), when the popular party of the Pharisees was ranged on the side of Hyrcanus, and the priestly party of the Sadducees on the side of Aristobulus, the old Onias was dragged from his seclusion to give to the besiegers the advantage of his irresistible prayers. He stood up in the midst of them and said: "O God, the "King of the whole world, since those that are besieged "are Thy Priests, I beseech thee that Thou wilt neither "hearken to the prayers of those against these, nor of "these against those." That was the true protest against party-spirit in every Church and in every age. With the insensibil- ity to all superior excellence which passion natur- ally engenders, the fanatics amongst whom he stood stoned him to death. He died a martyr in a noble cause—a worthy precursor of Him who in a few short years was to condemn in the same breath the teaching common alike to Pharisee and Sadducee, "which is "hypocrisy"—that is "affectation," acting a part; who was to denounce in the most unsparing terms that false "religious world" of which the murderers of Onias were the chief representatives—who was Him- self to suffer, with His own first martyr, almost on the same spot, from the combination of the two parties , for both of whom Onias prayed, and for both of whom He and Stephen prayed also.

Compared with developing countries, developed countries witness high aging rates. This is due to improved infrastructure for health care, favorable refund policies and advanced health care facilities in those countries. In addition, access to various diagnostic and therapeutic services, especially in developed countries, has improved in recent past. In turn, this has increased the population's life expectancy. Increased numbers of elderly lead to a high rate of illnesses, which in turn can boost demand and consumption of intelligent implantable pumps. Regional Outlook Geographically, five major regions were segmented in the global smart implantable pumps market: North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Middle East & Africa. In 2018 the major global market shares were represented by North America and Europe. A large geriatric population that is more vulnerable to chronic diseases such as spasticity and chronic pain, leads to demand for smart implantable pumps in those regions. In the Asia Pacific, the intelligent implantable pump market is expected to expand during the projected period at a high CAGR. The growth of heart disease and other chronic conditions and the expenditure on healthcare are expected to propel the market in the region during the forecast period.
